Shay's Pie Place Connects Community Through Sweet Treats

Longhurst working in her bakery

In this interview with bakery owner Shay Longhurst, I learned what it means to leave behind your career to pursue a dream of owning a bakery. Now, Shay's Pie Place serves customers delicious pies, homecooked meals and more every day in Chubbuck.

You may have driven past the little blue building with the pink sign which reads “Shay’s Pie Place” in Chubbuck. However, the owner and baker Shay Longhurst does more than just bake pies.

She was a nurse for 25 years, and a year and a half ago, took the leap of faith to push nursing aside and start her own bakery. Since that day 18 months ago, Longhurst’s bakery has become a staple in the Chubbuck community.

I learned all of this and more in my chat with Shay at the bakery. You can even hear the sounds of the ovens dinging and the employees working in the background of our interview!

Check out their website at shayspieplace.company.site for more information on pre-orders, meal calendars, events and the Pie It Forward Program.
